Internet Tracking While Browsing

While browsing the Internet for information or shopping with your favorite web browser, websites you visited can track your Internet access location? Did you know that this is a could default setting in your browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera, and others) to allow this tracking? For many known and good websites, this is would OK. But there are a good number of websites are potential threats.

Having a very good security solution such as a security suite with antivirus, antispyware, antispam, firewall, and etc will help tremendously. No matter what, you are still being tracked. You can take steps to start eliminating the browser tracking. In the browser you are using, there is a privacy settings to tell websites not to response tracking requests. Below are simple steps for the most commonly used browsers.

For Internet Explorer:

  1. Click on the Tools menu then select “Internet Options” menu item.
  2. Go to the “Privacy” tab.
  3. In the “Location” area, click on the checkbox named “Never allow websites to request your physical location” to put a check mark there.
  4. Click on the “Clear Sites” to empty any sites previously allowed.
  5. Click the “Apply” button then the “OK” button to close the “Internet Options” window.

For Firefox:

  1. Click on the Tools menu then select “Options” menu item.
  2. Click on the “Privacy” toolbar item.
  3. In the “Tracking” area at the top of the window, click on the checkbox named “Tell websites I do not want to be tracked” to put a check mark there.
  4. Click the “OK” button to close the “Options” window.
